Infamous 2 is a third person action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Studios and published by Sony Corporation for the PlayStation 3 video gaming console. It is an entirely separate sequel of the highly successful first installment, Infamous: Second Son. Announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) held annually in Los Angeles, California, it was released on July 5, 2020. The game is set three years after the events of its predecessor, where the young, black-ops government agent Alex Cross (Kaya Scodelario) is called to Washington D.C. to do some "dirty work."
When Cross finds out that his family had been kidnapped, he goes on the hunt for his family's killers who have gone underground and taken up a new identity of a young black man named Franklin Mendez. Along with some new allies and former enemies, Franklin sets out to save the lives of others. The plot of the game revolves around the fact that Franklin's father has been captured by an infamous mobster and Cross is sent to find him and help save his father. However, after saving his father, Cross soon realizes that his life has changed forever. As Franklin begins to experience his own personal journey into being a father and a husband, the events of the previous game will become clear. This time around, Cross is tasked with saving the citizens of Washington D.C.
Infamous: Second Son was developed by Sony Corporation and was originally released in 2020 for Microsoft Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable consoles. However, its sales were less than expected due to the game's open-world concept which may not appeal to those who are not used to games featuring an open world. As a result, Sony decided to develop the sequel.
